Food and drinks: The long menu has a few must-haves. First off is the guacamole tablet, which you may tailor with fresh lime or onions, jalapeño, tomatoes, and cilantro. In a sleek former car body shop in Frogtown, Salazar is placed (a.k.a. Elysian Valley.) Most seats at the restaurant are outside, and Southern California has no issue. This Eastside terrace Charmant is both liked by scenesters and local families despite poor parking and perhaps long waiting. Meat and shellfish are offered on a grill and in-house tortillas are cooked using yellow maize and flour in Sonoran style. The tacos are the stars of this menu, undoubtedly. Carnes asada is smokey and wonderful — but don’t miss either a pollo asado or the version of the shepherd, made from cattle cutting like chuck or arrachera. Caught wild, a cocktail of Mexican shrimp is fantastically cool and cool. We also had a beautifully cooked fruit with citrus green sauce. There are a lot of extraordinary meals in the shape of taking-offs such as chilene and herbal Rellenos; enchiladas full of chicharrón with refreshing cream; and steaks in tiny slices served on nopal grills. Order the well-known baroque chile en nogada, a sweet-savory picadillo with stuffed chile with a creamy walnut cream sauce flaked with gem-red grains of the grenade. The nutty pipiá moles of the restaurant and a black mole poblano is superb, indicating the harshness of the charred chilies.
